Days and Events
Value Education
Value Education classes are conducted once a week. Enrichment courses and training cum workshops are also held to aid students. Teenage care programs are also organized frequently.
School Magazine
The School Magazine, “The Pinnacle -2024-25” is the outward expression of the student’s creativity and originality. It is a reflection of their thoughts and an outlet for their feelings. English, Hindi and Malayalam are given equal importance. Apart from “The Pinnacle”, there is also the individual class magazine for Std. I to XII . These magazines are edited, printed and published by the students. Four Awards are given at the Annual Day Celebrations for the Best Class Magazines – for the Primary, Upper Primary, High School and the Higher Secondary Sections.
Various Clubs and Houses (Blue, Green, Violet and Yellow)
Various co-curricular activities are organized in the school with the objective of the all- round development of the pupils. The students are provided ample opportunities for exhibiting skill in sports, arts, games and other activities. To promote a healthy competition, the entire school population has been divided into four houses: – Blue, Green, Violet and Yellow – each led by a teacher and a set of selected students. Eighteen Clubs, catering to the aptitude of the students function in the school. The clubs are very active and the children are taught the basic skills by the concerned clubs. The activities incorporated in the Academic Calendar on behalf of the Maths, Painting, Work Experience, Home Science and Eco clubs, did boost the morale of our students.
Social Service League
Members visit orphanages and homes and distribute clothes and study materials to the poor.
N.C.C.
The National Cadet Corps Unit, which functions in the school, gives emphasis to general service knowledge and aero modeling. Cadets are being prepared to appear for the A- Certificate Examination.
Summer Courses
Come summer and St. Thomas gears up to welcome the students who choose to spend the vacation in pursuit of adventure, hobbies and exploits in new fields. The summer courses organized by the St. Thomas Schools cover areas like Personality Development, Spoken English, Sports and Games, Music, Art and Craft, Animation and even special coaching for Science Talent Search Examinations. The fun-filled days packed with exciting activities are a welcome change from the tension-filled exam days of the third term.
School Re-opening 2026-2027
The Academic Year commenced on June 1st 2026 with a very optimistic note in the Morning Assembly by School Chaplain Rev. Philo Jacob Varghese and Principal Dr. Lizu Verghis.
Environmental Day 2026 -2027
In observance of World Environment Day, the NSS Unit of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School hosted Environment Day celebrations on June 5, 2026 . Smt. Suja P S, Assistant District Coordinator of the Kerala Shuchitwa Mission, and Shri Aneesh Aansalam, social worker, were the chief guests for the celebrations. An awareness session on Environment and sanitation, singing of environmental songs, sapling planting drive, pledge, poster design competition and other cultural events were conducted. The programme also featured the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to formally inaugurate the event.
Reading Day and Reading Week –2026 -2027
Reading day celebrations was observed in St. Thomas Higher Secondary School in honor of Shri. P.N. Panicker on June 19th. The NSS Unit of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School hosted the Reading Week (Vayanavaram) celebrations. The Chief Guests of the day Sri. Saji Mariyapuram a renowned writer, along with teacher and orator Sri Prenjith P.V., delivered a very delightful and meaningful message to the students and staff to mark the start of a week dedicated to celebrating the joy of reading. A Malayalam skit performed on stage was the special attraction of the program.
Club Inauguration 2026-2027
To unlock the hidden talents, passions and potentials within each student, STHSS witnessed a significant milestone as it inaugurated a host of vibrant and engaging clubs for the academic year 2026-27, like Social Science Club, Work Experience Club, Quiz Club, Literary and Dramatics, Information Technology, Economics and Anti Narcotics Club. Our School Chaplain, Rev. Philo Jacob Varghese, inaugurated the Quiz Club with prayer and speaking of the importance of Quiz Club on 22nd June 2026. The Chief Guest Ms. Thamanna Hari , our former student and Head Girl, motivated the students through her inspiring life experience and spoke about the techniques to win quiz contests. She conducted a quiz contest also
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking – 2026-2027
An awareness programme was convened by the Narcotics Club on 26th June, 2026 in connection with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking.
The session was led by Sri. Vignesh Viswanath, District Coordinator, Vimukthi Mission, Excise department.
Students took oath on this day against the use of drugs and anti-narcotic substance.
Investiture Ceremony 2026 -2027
Investiture Ceremony conducted on 30th June 2026, witnessed the swearing in of the School leaders, pledging their readiness to discharge their duties with sincerity and dedication. Rev. Philo Jacob Varghese, School Chaplain was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Selected representatives were presented with badge and epaualette by the Chief Guest, Principal and teachers.
Felicitation of School Toppers of Classes X and XII for the academic year 2026–27
St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Mukkolakkal, was honoured to welcome the District Collector, Smt. Anu Kumari IAS, for a special felicitation ceremony recognising the toppers of Classes X and XII for the academic year 2025–26.
During her inspiring interaction, the Collector congratulated the achievers and shared valuable messages. She emphasised the importance of sustainability, encouraging students to adopt environmentally responsible practices, and highlighted the need for screen-free time — urging students to strike a healthy balance between technology use and real-life experiences.
Her words motivated students to become not only academically successful but also socially responsible and mindful individuals. The school expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the District Collector for taking time from her busy schedule to encourage and inspire the students.

The PTA General Body Election elected Shri. Vinoth Kumar as PTA President, Shri Chinsha as PTA Vice President , Smt. Fexy Fulgen as Mother PTA, Shri. Shiji Das. D as PTA Secretary, Smt. Latha Rajeev as PTA Treasurer..
St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Mukkolakkal, hosted a meaningful day combining the PTA General Body Meeting with a parenting session and a career guidance talk at the Dr. Joseph Marthoma Auditorium on 27-June-2026.
Mr. Vishnu S S, Director of Career Launcher, shared valuable insights with parents on career planning and the paths ahead for their children. Mr. S. Suresh Kumar, Corporate Trainer cum Psychologist, led an engaging parenting session, offering practical tools for nurturing children’s growth and well-being.
The school extends sincere thanks to the speakers, PTA members, teachers and parents who attended and made the event possible, and looks forward to even greater participation in future sessions.
All Kerala Quiz for the Secretary’s Trophy – 2026
The All Kerala Quiz Competition for the Secretary’s Trophy proved an engaging, interactive and intellectual forum for nineteen schools with the quiz master Mr. Jobin David quizzing the target audience in his self composed, fine tuned manner on 2-July-2026. First position bagged by Carmel Girls HSS, Trivandrum, Second position bagged by St. Thomas Public School, Trivandrum and Third position by Sarvodaya Central Vidyalaya. The winners were awarded with the cash prize and trophy by our Secretary Sri. Rajan Varghese, Treasurer Sri. George Joseph , School Chaplain Rev. Philo Jacob Varghese and Principal Dr. Lizu Verghis.
The Scripture Union & Children’s Special Service Mission (CSSM) -2026-2027
The Scripture Union & Children’s Special Service Mission (CSSM) team held their interactive sessions in our campus from July 7th, 2026 to July 8th, 2026. The session included live music, meaningful conversations etc. The team shared their wisdom with the students of the campus.
Prefects Training 2026-27
A Prefects Training session was conducted on 22-July-2026, by Mr. Suresh John Jacob, Corporate Consultant, Trainer and Coach with 30 years of experience in leadership, organizational development, business strategy, and executive coaching. This session gave meaningful insights on true leadership for students.
Thrive Team Visit 2026-27
The Thrive Team visited campus to conduct an engaging interactive session with Class VIII and IX students. The session featured meaningful discussions and
thought-provoking activities that encouraged students to think positively and
build confidence.
Nature Conservation Day celebrations 2026-27
As part of Nature Conservation Day celebrations on 28th July, 2026 the School Science Club conducted a special session on Mangroves. A total of 32 club members participated. The resource persons of the session were Sri. Anoop and Sri. Sanoop from Kariyavattam Campus.
Robotics Training Session 2026
Our students of Classes 3 to 8 and 11 had an unforgettable robotics experience on 7-Aug-2026 . Mr Rajasekhar H, founder of Stem Robotics, International and team enlightened our students on Robotics an emerging field that would bring future demands in everyday life situations. ‘Thaara‘ the robo stole the show that day.
STHSS Annual Youth Festival 2026-2027
The Annual Youth Festival 2026-2027 brought our school together in the Dr. Joseph Marthoma Auditorium on July 30th, filling the campus with joy and excitement. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Alina Padikkal, Television Anchor, Actress, Model and Alumina of our school as the chief guest, through the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, in the presence of MTCES Secretary, Principal, Headmistress, School Chaplain, PTA Executive members, Convenor of the event, and student representatives. The festival featured a range of competitions, including Bharatanatyam, Fancy dress, Kuchipudi, Folk dance, Drama, Elocution, and Recitation, held on August 3rd, 4th and 5th 2026.
Onam Celebrations 2026
Onam celebrations of our school “Niravu 2026” was celebrated on 11-Aug-2026. The Cheif Guest Sri. Brahmanyakam Mahadevan rendered a heartwarming message and shared his impressions on the need to practice values in relationships amongst the student community. School Chaplain Rev. Philo Jacob Varghee, School Principal Smt. Lizu Verghis, School Headmistress Smt. LIsa Mathew and PTA President Shri. Vinoth Kumar graced the ocassion. House-wise Competitions like Pookalam Competition, Tug of War etc were conducted as part of the Onam Celebration.
80th Independence Day Celebrations
The 80th Independence Day Celebrations was held on 15th August 2026 in Dr. Joseph Marthoma Auditorium of our campus. Variety Entertainment programs like band performance, Group song and patriotic dance were held. All the schools under MTCES participated in the March past and other competitions like Declamation Competition, Patriotic Group song etc. Akshay Rajesh of Class XII C secured Second Prize in the Declamation Competition, portraying the inspiring personality of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Our School, bagged third prize in Patriotic Group song Competition.
Annual Exhibition 2026-2027
Beyond the classroom walls, creativity shone bright at our Annual Exhibition on September 2, 2026. Students dazzled visitors with their innovative Science, Maths, Social Science, Art and IT projects showcasing exceptional talent. Esteemed guest Smt. Asha Raju, Asst. Professor, Department of Zoology, St. Stephens College, Uzhavoor graced the event with her presence and inaugurated it.
Club Visits and Tours
- Work experience club members of St. Thomas Higher Secondady School participated in an Art work shop conducted at the College of Fine Arts Thiruvananthapuram on 9/09/2026 in connection with the MFA students exhibition.
- A visit to the Kerala Legislative Assembly and Museum was organized on 29-09-2025 for Std X students to watch the live proceedings of the Legislative Assembly.
