Value Education
Value Education classes are conducted once a week. Enrichment courses and training cum workshops are also held to aid students. Teenage care programs are also organized frequently.
School Magazine
The School Magazine, “The Pinnacle -2024-25” is the outward expression of the student’s creativity and originality. It is a reflection of their thoughts and an outlet for their feelings. English, Hindi and Malayalam are given equal importance. Apart from “The Pinnacle”, there is also the individual class magazine for Std. I to XII . These magazines are edited, printed and published by the students. Four Awards are given at the Annual Day Celebrations for the Best Class Magazines – for the Primary, Upper Primary, High School and the Higher Secondary Sections.
Various Clubs and Houses (Blue, Green, Violet and Yellow)
Various co-curricular activities are organized in the school with the objective of the all- round development of the pupils. The students are provided ample opportunities for exhibiting skill in sports, arts, games and other activities. To promote a healthy competition, the entire school population has been divided into four houses: – Blue, Green, Violet and Yellow – each led by a teacher and a set of selected students. Eighteen Clubs, catering to the aptitude of the students function in the school. The clubs are very active and the children are taught the basic skills by the concerned clubs. The activities incorporated in the Academic Calendar on behalf of the Maths, Painting, Work Experience, Home Science and Eco clubs, did boost the morale of our students.
Social Service League
Members visit orphanages and homes and distribute clothes and study materials to the poor.
N.C.C.
The National Cadet Corps Unit, which functions in the school, gives emphasis to general service knowledge and aero modeling. Cadets are being prepared to appear for the A- Certificate Examination.
Summer Courses
Come summer and St. Thomas gears up to welcome the students who choose to spend the vacation in pursuit of adventure, hobbies and exploits in new fields. The summer courses organized by the St. Thomas Schools cover areas like Personality Development, Spoken English, Sports and Games, Music, Art and Craft, Animation and even special coaching for Science Talent Search Examinations. The fun-filled days packed with exciting activities are a welcome change from the tension-filled exam days of the third term.

The Academic Year commenced on June 1st 2024 on a very optimistic note in the Morning Assembly.
Environmental Day 2024 -2025
Environmental protection, the need of the hour was seen reflected in our campus as well on the 5th of June 2024.
Reading Day and Reading Week –2024 -2025
Reading day celebrations was observed in St. Thomas Higher Secondary School in honour of Shri. P.N. Panicker on June 19th. The day witnessed an array of Book review presentation by the students during the School Assembly. Students were motivated to read a certain number of books within a specified time frame. To promote class libraries, students were encouraged to contribute books and magazines during the month.
Club Inauguration –2024 -2025
To unlock the hidden talents, passions and potentials within each student, STHSS witnessed a significant milestone as it inaugurated a host of vibrant and engaging clubs for the academic year 2024-25, like Social Science Club, Work Experience Club, Quiz Club, Literary and Dramatics, Information Technology, Economics and Anti Narcotics Club. Inauguration of these clubs were done by Mr. Mathew John on June 14th 2024. An extensive display of coins and stamps on the occasion, helped our students explore the biography, currencies,politics and art of the past.
International Yoga Day-2024 -2025
To mark the International Day of Yoga, there was a display of Yoga by the students on 21st June 2024.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking – 2024-2025
An awareness programme was convened by the Narcotics Club on 26th June, 2024 in connection with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking.
The session was led by Dr.P.K. Sreekumar, Deputy Drug Controllor (RTD), Kerala.
Mr. Ambarish, Inspector of Police , Mannanthala Station and Mr. Ajay Kumar, Inspector of Excise Department shared their views.
Students took oath on this day against the use of drugs and anti-narcotic substance.
Investiture Ceremony 2024 -2025
Investiture Ceremony conducted on 10th July 2024, witnessed the swearing in of the School leaders, pledging their readiness to discharge their duties with sincerity and dedication. Rev. Dr. Eapen Varghese, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. School Chaplain, Rev. Mathew John also attended the function. Selected representatives were presented with badge and epaualette by the Chief Guest, School Chaplain, Principal and teachers.
Orientation cum Awareness Programmes -2024
- Rev. Sajesh Mathew, took the Orientation class for Class 11 students and parents on 18th of June 2024.
- The CSSM team held their interactive sessions in our campus from July 8th to 13th.
- Hero Honda Road Safety Education conducted an awareness program for our students on 8-Aug-2024 .
- Thrive, a dynamic outreach initiative dedicated to positively influencing teenagers conductedinteractive sessions for commerce students in select days of October. The sessions focussed onpersonal growth, mental wellbeing and ethical values.
- Career Launch under the leadership of Mr Anand organised career talks cum Counselling sessionsfor class X and Higher secondary students on the 15th and 18th of October. The talk was extended to parents as well.
- Dr. Y Sunil Raj was the keynote speaker for classes 10,11 and 12 on ‘Memory tricks’ on 19/07/2024.
Young Innovators Programme (YIP) and Maths Fair Training Programmes
Mrs. Sabitha Rani B S from the Digital University enlightened our students on generating constructive ideas for the Young Innovators Programme on 27th July 2024. Students of classes 5 to 12 received appreciable inputs from Mr. Suraj and Mr. Anilkumar towards Sastrolsavam Maths Fair on 30th August.
STHSS Youth Festival – 2024
An ambience of cheer descended upon our campus when the entire school gathered in the school Auditorium on July 30th for the Youth Festival 2024-25, inaugurated by Mr. Yadhu Krishna, a renowned singer. The cultural competitions for Bharatanatyam, Fancy dress, Kuchipudi, Folk dance, Drama etc were held from 30th July 2024 to 31st July 2024.
Kids Fest- 2024
Kids Fest was organized on 30th ,31st July, 2024 . There were Fancy Dress Competitions, Folk Dance Performances, Flower Arrangement Competition etc. The fest continued with literary events held over 2 days on Aug 9th and Aug 12th featuring various competitions. A total of 14 exciting events were conducted throughout the fest and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Independence Day -2024
The 78th Independence Day Celebrations was held on 15th August 2024. All the three schools participated in the March past. Variety Entertainment programmes like Speech competition, band performance, display, Group song and patriotic dance were held.
All Kerala Quiz for the Secretary’s Trophy – 2024
The All Kerala Quiz Competiton for the Secretary’s Trophy proved an engaging, interactive and intellectual forum for twenty three city schools with the quiz master Mr. Jobin David quizzing the target audience in his self composed, fine tuned manner. First position bagged by Saraswati Vidyalaya, Vattiyoorkavu, Second position bagged by Christ Nagar Central School, Kowdiar and Third position by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Manvila. The winners were awarded with the cash prize and trophy by our Treasurer Shri. Cherian Varghese.
Annual School Exhibition -2024 -25
Going beyond the confines of the class room, the Annual School Exhibition held on the 24th of September 2024, exhibited the brilliance of creativity of our students in Social Science, Mathematics, Science, Art and Craft categories.
Onam Celebrations – 2024
Onam, the Harvest festival of Kerala was celebrated minimal this year in our school campus due to devastating landslides in Wayanad district. We opted for a subdued observance of the festival, this year to express our solidarity with our fellow beings at Wayanad. We acknowledge the generous contribution of an amount of Rs.78,835/- donated by our parents toward the cause.
NSS UNIT INAGURATION-2024-25
A milestone accomplished this year was the inception of the National Service Scheme Unit. The inauguration of National Service Scheme Unit (NSS Unit), was held on Dr. Juhanon Marthoma Auditorium on October 3rd,2024. Dr. Anzer R N, State NSS officer inaugurated the function and delivered the message. .“Starting the first NSS unit in the campus is a huge achievement and a proud moment forthe school. It reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering community service, leadership, andsocial responsibility among students.”opined Dr Anzer.Dr. Rajan Varghese (Secretary, MTCES), Mr. George Joseph (Treasurer, MTCES), Rev. Mathew K John (School Chaplain), Mr. Gopi D(S.I, Mannanthala Police station), Mrs.M S Kasthuri (Ward Councillor) attended the function and shared their views. The Principal welcomed the gathering. The unit is well progressing under the leadership of Mr. Harikumar, Programme Officer. It reflects the institution’s commitment to foster community service, leadership, and social responsibility among students.
41st Annual Athletic Meet -2024 – 25
The Marthoma Stadium came alive on the 12th and 13th of November 2024, as our students competed in a variety of events during the 41st Annual Athletic Meet. Mrs. Lekha K. C., World Women’s Boxing Champion and Dhyan Chand awardee, declared the meet open following a colorful parade by the NCC, the Band, and the four Houses. She delivered an inspiring keynote address, followed by a heartwarming message. The Secretary of MTCES, Mr. Rajan Varghese; Treasurer, Mr. George Joseph; the School Chaplain; and the Heads of our sister institutions graced the opening ceremony with their presence. The Red House emerged as the overall champions, securing first place. The event showcased the zeal, talent, and spirit of sportsmanship among our students!
Children’s Day Celebration 2024
Children’s Day Celebration was unique this year, Mia Marian Jeevan(Class 5) was the Chacha Nehru on stage this time. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Nithin A.F., Consultant Psychologist at SUT Hospital, Trivandrum. The event was colourful with a variety of entertainment programmes. Our students performed a variety of entertaining programmes, including group dances, group songs, solo music performances, and more. They made the day unforgettable by paying tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Social Responsibility
On the 15thof November, as part of the activities of the Adopted village, a wheelchair was donated to Karthik Mohan in the presence of Trivandrum Corporation deputy Mayor, Shri. P K Raju and Ward Councillor Smt.M S Kasthuri. On the 22nd, an overwhelming response from our parents helped us carry out this year’s “Pothichoru distribution” at RCC. The unit Chaithanya Eye Hospital and Chaithanya Sight Foundation organised a Free Eye check-up camp at our campus on the 22nd of October.
Parenting Sessions
Dr. Y Sunil Raj, Educational Trainer and Life Coach led an impactful session on positive parenting and its significance in raising healthy individuals for Class X, XI, and XII parents on the 16th of November.
Teacher Training Programmes
The facilitators for the Annual FIP this year, the best minds in their respective fields, Shri. A J Philip, Senior Journalist, Dr. Simon George, Former Dean and now Adjunct faculty of TAPMI, Dr. Mrs. Sara Varghese, Former Principal of Govt. Medical College, Trivandrum, Mr. Mervin Alexander, Former Chief postmaster General / CEO Technopark, empowered our teachers to keep abreast of all the latest trends and teaching strategies. ‘How to incorporate Value Education in the regular syllabus’ by Rev. Dr. Ipe Joseph, was a special session highlighting the need to develop a strong moral compass in children. The school counsellor Mrs. Hannah Ranjan attended a Training Programme conducted by Govt. Public Health centre, Chettivilakom to address anemic issues in children. Mr. Muraly K attended District Level Text Book Training conducted by KITE. Smt. Mini Abraham and Manjula devi attended ‘Amma Manasu’ at KSIHFW on 23rd November at Thycaud.
Visits
- A visit to the Kerala Legislative Assembly and Museum was organised on 10th July 2024 for Std X students to watch the live proceedings of the Legislative Assembly.
- An informative visit to the College of Fine Arts was organised on June 28th, 2024.
Contributions
Best House runner up trophy in memorial of Late Mr. George Samuel, Former Principal of our school was handed over by Mrs. Mariamma George, wife of Samuel Sir.
Mr Shiji Das contributed a draft copy for the school library titled “The Miscellaneous” to enlighten the student community on financial literacy, various emerging business terms, investment schemes, e-business etc.
Revival of School Band
Our School Band could make a comeback with due support extended by our Secretary and Treasurer . A new junior team is getting trained under the supervision of Mr. J. Vincent, the Band Instructor.
