Value Education
Value Education classes are conducted once a week. Enrichment courses and training cum workshops are also held to aid students. Teenage care programs are also organized frequently.
School Magazine
The School Magazine, “The Pinnacle -2024-25” is the outward expression of the student’s creativity and originality. It is a reflection of their thoughts and an outlet for their feelings. English, Hindi and Malayalam are given equal importance. Apart from “The Pinnacle”, there is also the individual class magazine for Std. I to XII . These magazines are edited, printed and published by the students. Four Awards are given at the Annual Day Celebrations for the Best Class Magazines – for the Primary, Upper Primary, High School and the Higher Secondary Sections.
Various Clubs and Houses (Blue, Green, Violet and Yellow)
Various co-curricular activities are organized in the school with the objective of the all- round development of the pupils. The students are provided ample opportunities for exhibiting skill in sports, arts, games and other activities. To promote a healthy competition, the entire school population has been divided into four houses: – Blue, Green, Violet and Yellow – each led by a teacher and a set of selected students. Eighteen Clubs, catering to the aptitude of the students function in the school. The clubs are very active and the children are taught the basic skills by the concerned clubs. The activities incorporated in the Academic Calendar on behalf of the Maths, Painting, Work Experience, Home Science and Eco clubs, did boost the morale of our students.
Social Service League
Members visit orphanages and homes and distribute clothes and study materials to the poor.
N.C.C.
The National Cadet Corps Unit, which functions in the school, gives emphasis to general service knowledge and aero modeling. Cadets are being prepared to appear for the A- Certificate Examination.
Summer Courses
Come summer and St. Thomas gears up to welcome the students who choose to spend the vacation in pursuit of adventure, hobbies and exploits in new fields. The summer courses organized by the St. Thomas Schools cover areas like Personality Development, Spoken English, Sports and Games, Music, Art and Craft, Animation and even special coaching for Science Talent Search Examinations. The fun-filled days packed with exciting activities are a welcome change from the tension-filled exam days of the third term.
School Re-opening 2025 -2026
The Academic Year commenced on June 2nd 2025 with a very optimistic note in the Morning Assembly by our Chief Guest, Rev. Prasad Ponnachen, Vicar, Ebenezer Marthoma Church , Peroorkada.
Environmental Day 2025 -2026
Environmental protection, the need of the hour was seen reflected in our campus as well on the 5th of June 2025. Our chief Guest, Dr. Vasuki IAS, delivered message to the students on this day. The subject of the day was “Bye- Bye Plastic–Pollution“.
Reading Day and Reading Week –2025 -2026
Reading day celebrations was observed in St. Thomas Higher Secondary School in honour of Shri. P.N. Panicker on June 19th. The day witnessed an array of Book review presentation by the students during the School Assembly. The Chief Guests of the day Sri. S K Suresh, Retd Agriculture Joint Director and Sri. D R Jose, Vice Chairman, Karshaaka Kootukkar Koottayma delivered a very delightful and meaningful message to the students. Students were motivated to read a certain number of books within a specified time frame. To promote class libraries, students were encouraged to contribute books and magazines during the month.
International Yoga Day-2025 -2026
To mark the International Day of Yoga, there was a display of Yoga by the students on 21st June 2025.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking – 2025-2026
An awareness programme was convened by the Narcotics Club on 26th June, 2025 in connection with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking.
The session was led by Mr. John Mathai, IAS Former Chief Secretary to Govt of Kerala.
Mr. Gopi, Circle Inspector of Police , Mannanthala Station shared his views.
Students took oath on this day against the use of drugs and anti-narcotic substance.
Investiture Ceremony 2025 -2026
Investiture Ceremony conducted on 27th June 2025, witnessed the swearing in of the School leaders, pledging their readiness to discharge their duties with sincerity and dedication. Rev. Mathew John, School Chaplain was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Selected representatives were presented with badge and epaualette by the Chief Guest, Principal and teachers.
Parent Teacher Association and Parenting Sessions -2025-2026
Dr. V Sunilraj, leading Educational trainer, Behavioural therapist, life coach conducted a parenting session on 28 th June, 2025.
Exclusive sessions were held for parents of classes 1 to 12 and the Executive Committee formed thereafter. The office bearers for the academic year assumed charge electing Mr. Joy T as the President, Mr. Ali Afsal as the Vice President, Mrs Sonia Harrison as Mother PTA, Mrs. Chitra Gopan as Mother PTA Vice President, Mr. Shiji Das as Secretary and Mrs. Latha Rajeev as Treasurer.
Club Inauguration, Tours and Visits –2025 -2026
To unlock the hidden talents, passions and potentials within each student, STHSS witnessed a significant milestone as it inaugurated a host of vibrant and engaging clubs for the academic year 2025-26, like Social Science Club, Work Experience Club, Quiz Club, Literary and Dramatics, Information Technology, Economics and Anti Narcotics Club. The inauguration of these clubs were done by Sri. Sivamurali, Asianet Comedy Star/Actor on July 2nd,2025. Work experience club members of Class 6-9 visited College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum on 28-06-2025.

All Kerala Quiz for the Secretary’s Trophy – 2025
The All Kerala Quiz Competition for the Secretary’s Trophy proved an engaging, interactive and intellectual forum for twenty five city schools with the quiz master Mr. Jobin David quizzing the target audience in his self composed, fine tuned manner on 28-July-2025. First position bagged by Carmel Girls HSS, Trivandrum, Second position bagged by Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Trivandrum and Third position by LVHSS, Pothencode. The winners were awarded with the cash prize and trophy by our Secretary Sri. Rajan Varghese
Exploring the Future with Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
An inspiring session on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence was conducted by Mr. Rajashekharan, Founder & CEO of STEM Robotics International at our school. Students of Classes 8 to 12 got a chance to dive into the fascinating world of technology, innovation, and futuristic thinking. It was truly an informative and eye-opening experience that sparked curiosity and creativity in every young mind.

Independence Day -2025
The 79th Independence Day Celebrations was held on 15th August 2025. All the three schools participated in the March past. Variety Entertainment programs like Speech competition, band performance, display, Group song and patriotic dance were held. Our School secured first prize in Patriotic Group song Competition. Our School secured first prize in Patriotic Group song Competition. Our student, Niranjanesh of Class12 bagged third prize in Extempore.
Onam Celebrations – 2025
Onam, the Harvest festival of Kerala was celebrated on 16-Aug-2025. Sri. Vibhu, Pirappancode rendered a heartwarming message. Our Treasurer Sri. George Joseph Sir shared his impressions on the need to practice values in relationships amongst the student community.
Annual School Exhibition -2025-26
Beyond the classroom walls, creativity shone bright at our Annual School Science Exhibition on September 12, 2025. Students dazzled visitors with their innovative Science projects, showcasing exceptional talent. Esteemed guest Smt. Anila Chacko, Principal of St. Thomas Training College, Trivandrum, graced the event with her presence and inaugurated it.
STHSS Youth Festival – 2025-26
The Annual Youth Festival 2025-2026 brought our school together in the Dr. Joseph Marthoma Auditorium on September 15th, filling the campus with joy and excitement. The event was inaugurated by Sri. Rajan Varghese, Secretary MTCES, as the chief guest, through the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, in the presence of the Principal, Headmistress, School Chaplain, PTA Executive members, Convenor of the event, and student representatives. The festival featured a range of competitions, including Bharatanatyam, Fancy dress, Kuchipudi, Folk dance, Drama, Elocution, and Recitation, held from September 15th to 17th, 2025.
FOUNDER’S FORUM- 2025
St. Thomas Higher Secondary School conducted FOUNDER’S FORUM- 2025 School Edition, Kerala’s first Inter-school Business Idea Pitching Competition on 15-th Nov,2025. This competition was a platform for students from Grades 8–12 to ideate, innovate, inspire and to transform their innovative ideas into feasible business models while developing essential skills like teamwork, problem-solving and communication. Mr. Shiju Babu, a Serial Entrepreneur, Start-up India Mentor (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India) and Mr. Gladson Sabu Varghese, CEO TCG Global were the judges of this event. Fifteen teams from different schools participated in this contest. St Thomas Public School (STPS)grabbed the Best Presentation and St Thomas Central School(STCS) bagged the Best Project Award.
Food Festival Celebrations 2025
School food festival is an event where students, along with teachers and family help, prepare and sell a variety of foods to showcase culinary talents, foster cultural awareness and raise funds for charity work. Food festival of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School was conducted on Nov 13th, 2025.
Children’s Day Celebration 2025
Children’s Day Celebration was unique this year, Serah Arun( Class 7) was the Chacha Nehru on stage this time. The chief guest for the function was Rev. Mathew K John. Our children performed several variety entertainment programmes like Group Dance, Group Song, Solo Music etc and made the day unforgettable by paying tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru , the first Prime Minister of India.
42nd Annual Day(2025-26)
42nd Annual Day of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Trivandrum was inaugurated by Chief guest Shri. Avitam Tirunal Aditya Varma on 29th November 2025. The Secretary of MTCES, Mr. Rajan Varghese, Treasurer of MTCES Mr. George Joseph, School Chaplain and Boarding Superintendent, Rev. Mathew K John, PTA President Mr. Joy T, Mother PTA Mrs. Soniya Harrison, PTA Executive members, Principals and heads of other sister institutions of MTCES graced the occasion by their presence. The Secretary, Treasurer, School Chaplain and PTA representatives gave away prizes for the school toppers of 2024-2025 and other prize winning students. The Annual Report of the academic year 2025-26 was presented by Principal Dr.(Mrs) Lizu Verghis. Our Principal, presented a momento to the Chief Guest. Students of STHSS made us proud by performing dance, skits, drama and other variety entertainment programs.
42nd Annual Athletic Meet -2025-26
The Marthoma Stadium came alive on the 9th of January 2026, as our students competed in a variety of events during the 42nd Annual Athletic Meet. Rev Mathew K John, the School Chaplain, declared the meet open and delivered an inspiring keynote address, followed by a heartwarming message. There were colorful parade by the NCC, the Band, and the four Houses. The Treasurer, Mr. George Joseph, presided the closing ceremony. The Yellow House emerged as the overall champions, securing first place. The event showcased the zeal, talent, and spirit of sportsmanship among our students!

Passing The Torch Ceremony of this year was held on 16th January 2026, Mr. Sayed M Khan an entrepreneur was the Chief Guest and speaker of the day. The prayer and benediction was done by our chaplain Rev. Mathew K John.

Revival of School Band
Our School Band could make a comeback with due support extended by our Secretary and Treasurer . A new junior team is getting trained under the supervision of Mr. J. Vincent, the Band Instructor.
